Gérard Berret was one of the inventors of the Universal Geneve’s patent in 1963 for their calibre 66. Berret left Universal Genève in 1968 and took up his position at Patek Philippe, where he began to work on the calibre 240.

Universal Genève then sued Patek Philippe, claiming that Berret had practically copied the design of the movement cal 240, and it’s understandable seeing the movement side by side.
